Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 1, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Pocket Wisdom ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our website and related services (the "Service"). We keep this simple: we collect as little as we need to run the Service, and we do not sell your personal information.
1. Information We Collect
Information you give us. If you create an account or subscribe to the daily quote, we collect your email address and, optionally, your name. If you send feedback, we collect the message and any contact details you choose to include (an email address is optional).
Information created by using the Service. If you take quizzes, we store your quiz results and progress so we can show your stats and leaderboard standings.
Technical information. Standard log and analytics data such as pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, browser type, and device type.
2. What We Do Not Do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising.
- We do not share your email address with third parties for their own marketing.
- We do not license, rent, or otherwise commercially exploit your personal information.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect only to: operate and secure the Service; create and maintain your account; save and display your quiz results and stats; send the emails you asked for (such as the daily quote) and essential account messages; respond to your feedback; and understand aggregate usage so we can improve the Service.
4. Analytics & Cookies
We use Google Analytics (loaded through Google Tag Manager) to understand aggregate usage of the Service, and cookies or local storage to keep you signed in and remember preferences. We do not use advertising cookies, and advertising and analytics storage are set to denied by default until consent is granted. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser, though parts of the Service may not work properly as a result.
5. Email Consent
Creating an account does not subscribe you to marketing email. Account holders receive only essential transactional messages (email confirmation, password resets). The Daily Pocket Quote is a separate, optional subscription that requires two things: an explicit, un-checked-by-default opt-in box, and clicking a confirmation link we email you (double opt-in). Until you click that link, your address stays inactive and receives nothing further.
When you subscribe, we store consent evidence alongside your email address: the date and time of consent, the page you subscribed from, your IP address where our servers can see it, the version of this policy in effect, your age attestation, and the date you confirmed. Every marketing email includes a one-click unsubscribe link.
6. Service Providers
We use a small number of vendors to run the Service on our behalf: hosting, application, and database infrastructure (Lovable Cloud, built on Supabase, and Cloudflare), email delivery (Resend), and analytics (Google Analytics 4 via Google Tag Manager, loaded in Consent Mode and storing nothing until you grant consent). They may process your information only to provide those services to us, not for their own purposes. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety, rights, or security of our users or the Service.
7. Data Retention
We keep account and quiz data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account yourself at any time (see Your Rights below), and we will honor any deletion request unless we are required to keep specific information by law.
Automated nightly cleanup enforces these retention periods:
- Email delivery logs (which address a message was sent to, and whether it was delivered) — 90 days.
- Used one-click unsubscribe links — 30 days after they are used.
- Feedback messages submitted through the feedback form — 12 months.
- Anti-abuse records used to rate limit the feedback form — 24 hours.
- Suppression records (addresses that unsubscribed, bounced, or complained) — kept indefinitely, because we need them to make sure we never email that address again.
A list of the cookies and browser storage we use is on our Cookie Policy page.
8. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational steps to protect your information, including access controls on our database. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children
The Service is intended for people aged 13 and older. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Because we do not want to collect more data than we need, we do not ask for a birth date or an exact age. Instead, both account signup and the Daily Pocket Quote subscription form require you to affirmatively check a box confirming that you are 13 years of age or older. You cannot create an account or subscribe without that attestation, and we record that it was given.
If you believe an account or email subscription belongs to a child under 13 — whether you are a parent, guardian, or anyone else — tell us through the feedback form and include the email address in question. We will verify what we can, delete the account and all associated data promptly, and add the address to our suppression list so it receives no further email. No account is required to make that report.
10. Your Rights & Self-Service Tools
You can exercise the core data rights yourself, immediately, from inside your account under Account → My Data & Privacy:
- Export my data (access / portability) — downloads a machine-readable JSON file containing your profile, quiz attempts and scores, group memberships, groups you own, email preferences, roles, and your daily-quote subscription record.
- Delete my account (erasure) — after a typed confirmation, permanently deletes your login and all of the above. We keep only minimal email suppression records so an opted-out address is never emailed again.
Email preferences and unsubscribing are handled under Account → My Email Preferences or the unsubscribe link in any email. For anything else — correction of inaccurate information, restriction or objection to processing, a copy in another format, questions about how we handle your data, or reporting an under-13 account — contact us through the feedback form and we will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
11. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make a material change, we will update the date at the top of this page.
12. Contact
Questions about this policy, or requests about your data, can be sent through the feedback form on the Service.
